A global celebration of Scottish culture returns to Braehead Arena this Saturday (21 February) as the Great Canadian Kilt Skate brings colour, music and community spirit to the rink.

What began with a single skater gliding across the world’s largest outdoor rink in a kilt on Burns Day has grown into an international movement across Canada, the USA and now Scotland — the homeland of Robert Burns.

Now in its second year at Braehead, the event is delivered in partnership with the Scottish Society of Ottawa and supported locally by Renfrewshire Council, celebrating the strong historic and cultural ties between Scotland and Canada.

The skate gets underway at 2:30pm, with live bagpipes and traditional Scottish musicians performing rinkside as skaters take to the ice.

  • FREE skating for anyone wearing a kilt
  • £2 off for those wearing tartan
  • Standard prices apply for others

Organisers hope the event will continue to grow in Scotland, encouraging more rinks to join in and make the Kilt Skate a vibrant annual tradition.
