The Braehead Ice Centre would like to advise that there will be no ice available between Monday 6th March 2023 and Friday 24th March 2023.

The very difficult decision has been reached to remove the ice for 3 weeks to allow the venue to manage our utility costs on a short term basis while analysing a long term energy efficiency plan including the potential installation of a new ice plant during the summer of 2023.

Due to the energy crisis, since taking over the venue back in November 2021, we have been battling with energy costs that have seen a 300% increase on what the venue was previously operating under pre-pandemic.

While the short to medium term has been and will continue to be extremely challenging, we continue to be fully committed and focused on having ice in the venue.

We would like to thank all of our fantastic ice users for their understanding and apologise any inconvenience these plans may cause.

We continue to be in dialogue with the Scottish Government, Sport Scotland and local authorities who have been highly supportive of our plans to install a new ice plant.

The short term removal of the ice DOES NOT have ANY affect on the Clan’s home fixtures, the leagues fixtures have meant all of the Clan’s & Pirates fixtures have been scheduled away from home during this period.

The following Clan & Pirates will be going ahead as scheduled:

– Saturday 4th March 2023: Glasgow Clan vs Fife Flyers (7:00pm face-off)

– Saturday 25th March 2023: Glasgow Clan vs Nottingham Panthers (7:00pm face-off)

– Sunday 26th March 2023: Paisley Pirates playoff quarter final

– Saturday 8th April or Sunday 9th April 2023: Glasgow Clan potential playoff quarter final
